Illness keeps no office hours. The Nine Clinic provides a 24/7 out of hours GP service in London, so that our patients can reach a doctor in the evening, overnight, at the weekend and over public holidays, rather than waiting for Monday morning or joining a queue somewhere unfamiliar.
Out of hours cover means clinical access outside standard consulting times. Our clinics on Harley Street and Sloane Square run Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and beyond those hours our patients are covered through our alliance with The London General Practice, whose doctors hold your details and can act rather than simply take a message.
Most out of hours calls are not emergencies. They are the situations that fall awkwardly in between, a child with a fever at ten at night, a wound that looks worse than it did at teatime, a medication reaction, a symptom that has been ignorable all day and suddenly is not.
Standard nine-to-five practice leaves those situations with nowhere sensible to go. You either wait, which is uncomfortable and occasionally unsafe, or you attend an emergency department for something that does not need one. Continuous cover removes that choice. One call reaches a doctor who can assess the situation, advise, prescribe where necessary and arrange to see you.
Patients regularly tell us this is the part of the service they value most, and often the part they use least. Knowing help is available changes how the night feels even when you never pick up the phone.
Out of hours access is included for patients on our GP membership and concierge packages and available to registered patients of the practice. You call the clinic number, and outside opening hours the call is routed to the doctor on cover.
If the matter can wait until morning, we will book you into a same-day GP appointment. If it can be handled remotely, a virtual consultation can often be arranged there and then. Full details of what each arrangement includes are on our services and fees page.
For a genuine medical emergency, including chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding or loss of consciousness, call 999 immediately. Out of hours GP cover complements emergency care, it does not replace it.
